Luminosity White Road Chronicles Book Two Jackie Castle 9781492818557 Books

Throughout the first book of this series (Illuminated), I told myself I wouldn't read any more books in the series or even by this author. The editing was so frustratingly atrocious that I couldn't see subjecting myself to more. Yet I did! Why? I simply became so interested in the characters and the story that I had to keep going. That's how good the storytelling is.

In this book, the heroine, having now reached her final destination and met her true king, is reunited with her real family, including a disdainful brother. As she sets out on her new quest, she begins to discover her purpose and regains more of her stolen memories. Her friends from her first journey (first book) also set off on their own quests. Unfortunately, there's no clear story arc in this book (or the next), so there's no clear climax or sense of "mission accomplished." when you get to the end. Rather, books 2, 3, and 4 (Luminosity, Emanate, and Radiance, respectively) feel like one long story, randomly divided, in which the heroine struggles with the same set of problems. Nevertheless, they are a good read -- just ignore the problems with language misuse (skimming helps, I found).

Luminosity White Road Chronicles Book Two Jackie Castle 9781492818557 Books Reviews

I love this series and the way this author writes. This book does not disappoint and keeps you turning the pages wanting more!
Once again a pleasing read for mid teens. Once again too many missing words of three or less letters to be a smooth read. I intend reading the final installment in this trilogy but I am hoping - strongly hoping- it is edited for missing words that are there to make language flow. Please author, invest in your story - invest in a copy editor who has not seen your drafts fifty times.
Book 2 of the series takes up seamlessly where Book left off Our friends find new challenges facing them and discover that for the most part they must face them alone or at least with no obvious outward help. There is the complex world and it gains even more depth as the people in it grow and gain experience of new kinds. I found myself so often with this book thinking I would love to have a teacher or a friend like that. Worth the read and the money. It is primary written for youth and could be viewed as a coming of age story. There are however plenty of things in the story for adults to enjoy. I recommend all the books to my friends who enjoy a fresh and clean read.
I love and have read hundreds of fantasy fiction novels and consider myself to be if not an expert then well versed as to how a good yarn is spun. Book 1 opened the door and got me hooked on the characters that seemed alive and 3 dimensional. As well as this it introduced the start of a story that had many questions that had me itching to get into book 2. After what seemed like an eternity (In reality a few months) book 2 arrived and I started reading on the day it was released. I discovered all the same beloved characters supported by some new and interesting additions. The story has fractured into 4 separate tales but Jackie has made this work very well and there is no jarring scene changes. All the way through I was itching to turn the page and was immensely disappointed to reach the end. Hopefully book 3 will be close on its heals. It's wonderful to read positive fantasy fiction with Christian values.
I couldn't put this one down either. This is becoming a delightful and epic journey for Alyra and her friends. Its great to see some of them finding love!
The author still struggles with grammar. Some punctuation would be helpful (commas and such) to help the reader understand some of the sentences better. Some I had to read three or four times to figure out where the comma should go.
This second book was just as good as the first. It has been fun to watch each character grow into their various "ministries". Each character grows more in their faith and they continue to see the importance of community. The story is a great lesson on how believers need to trust all things to the Lord. So much time was wasted by Alyra as she fails to recognize that she is Issah's prized daughter. She experiences a lot of heartache and relationship issues because she believes the lies of the enemy. It is wonderfully encouraging to see how Issah helps her expand her faith and learn to lean into the Truth. He never pushes or rushes her to grow beyond what she is capable of at the
moment. Yet it was His love for her that compelled her to want to live for him. My only 'complaint' is that the author tended to use much more common terms and phrases that just didn't seem to fit the era of the story. Characters would say "I'm, like, so mad at you", which I found odd and really needless. There are other examples but I guess in the grand scheme of things, it's really not that important. Don't skip this book because it! It's still a good read. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Luminosity is a great follow-up book for Illuminated (The White Road Chronicles). The main character, Alyra, is set on an adventure that will cause her to grow up and learn about her gifts. The other great characters from book one are all set on their own adventures. You'll love the way they keep up with each other. ) No, it's not with cell phones. The author's imagination carries you away to a colorful world of dragons, centaurs and more. If you haven't read Illuminated, I encourage you to get that book too.
I rate Luminosity as enjoyable, thought provoking (in the good sense - not the stop and wonder what they're talking about sense ) and you'll like the diverse group of characters.
A good allegorical story full of imagination.
